What we collect and why

• Analytics: page views, usage events and limited technical information through Google Analytics 4 when you consent. We use this to understand how the site is used and improve it. Lawful basis: consent.
• Advertising: Google AdSense and authorised advertising partners may process online identifiers, device information, IP address and interaction data to serve, measure and protect advertising where the law requires consent and that consent has been obtained. Newor Media manages part of our programmatic demand chain; authorised sellers are published in ads.txt. Lawful basis: consent where required; legitimate interests for security, fraud prevention and technical operations where applicable.
• Outbound Viator clicks: provider, location, language, placement surface, card position, traffic class, same-site referrer and an irreversible visitor hash. Each click also gets a random campaign code so a later booking can be matched to that click. If you arrived through a tagged campaign and have not denied analytics, we may also retain Google advertising click identifiers (gclid, gbraid or wbraid), UTM parameters and the landing path so we can measure which campaigns generate bookings. If you have not denied analytics, we may retain the Google Analytics client/session identifiers associated with the click so a confirmed booking can later be recorded in GA4. Those identifiers are not sent to Viator. We do not keep raw IP addresses or full user-agent strings for that report. Lawful basis: legitimate interests in affiliate measurement and fraud prevention; consent where the processing relies on optional analytics or cookies.
• Email alerts: your email address if you request a conditions alert. Mail is sent from [email protected] and every alert includes an unsubscribe link. Lawful basis: consent.
• Snorkel trip plans: if you request a personalized plan, we store your email address, destination, trip dates and planning preferences so we can generate the plan, unlock it in your browser and send the copy you requested. Requesting a plan does not subscribe you to marketing email. Lawful basis: consent.
• Security and operation: Cloudflare and our systems may log requests, IP address, headers and security events to protect and operate the service. Lawful basis: legitimate interests in security, availability and abuse prevention.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use strictly necessary cookies for basic functions and optional cookies for analytics and advertising. You can accept or reject optional cookies through our notice and reopen cookie settings to change your choice. We also use first-party cookies to remember your analytics choice (sf_analytics_consent), for 30 minutes let a tour click record a verdict-button assist (sf_aff_entry), and for up to 30 days when analytics has not been denied retain a signed allowlisted campaign-acquisition payload (sf_acq) until a possible outbound Viator click.

Third parties, including Google, may use cookies to serve and measure ads based on visits to this site or other sites. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, a certified consent management platform may be shown before non-essential advertising cookies are used.

Who we share data with

We may share data with service providers that help us operate the site, including Google (Analytics and AdSense), Cloudflare, email delivery providers, Newor Media and advertising technology partners, and Viator when you click through to book a tour. Open-Meteo supplies weather and marine data and does not need your personal data for that purpose. Grow.me / Faves may show a follow widget if enabled.

International transfers

Some providers may process data outside the UK or EEA. Where required, we rely on an applicable adequacy decision or other recognised safeguards such as approved contractual clauses. You can ask for more information using the privacy contact above.

How long we keep data

We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the relevant purpose. Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics retention settings; affiliate data is kept as needed for reconciliation, attribution, fraud prevention and audit; security logs for a reasonable operational period; and alert email addresses until you unsubscribe, subject to minimal retention where needed to honour the unsubscribe or comply with legal obligations.

Your rights

Depending on where you live and the lawful basis involved, you may have rights to access, correct or erase your data, restrict or object to processing, request portability, and withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.
